Shawnee County commissioners on Dec. 5 approved payment of $30,685 to All Tech Communications to complete fiber installation and termination related to relocating the courthouse data center to a basement room.
IT staff said the relocation, completed about a month earlier, provided a secure room with four solid walls instead of a windowed space. The move required rerouting fiber to hub rooms on each floor; staff described an outage to county services lasting about five hours during the transition but added that the sheriff’s office and jail were prioritized and were back online within a couple of hours.
Commissioners thanked IT staff for managing the complex move, noting the project involved moving servers, phones and data equipment that had been in place for roughly 40 years. The board approved the payment 3 to 0.
Staff said the old server-room cabinets and AC units were removed and that floor demo work will follow once equipment is cleared.
