Linn County Health Department reports rising WIC enrollment, schedules mammogram bus visit

Snyder said the department logged 228 client appointments in November and added six new WIC clients in the prior week. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment mobile lab visited Pleasanton grade and high schools and will visit additional schools in the spring; some towns opted out this year. The department hosted a second WIC clinic day in Blue Mound and is working to standardize client scheduling going forward.
Snyder said the mammogram bus is scheduled to return in February and staff are finishing the scheduling process, after which appointments will be available. She also reported ongoing website updates with county IT staff and submitted an abstract for the National WIC Conference to present how the department is using technology to modernize the WIC experience.
What happens next: The health department will begin offering mammogram appointment slots once scheduling is finalized, continue WIC outreach, and proceed with website improvements and conference planning.
