Ellis County creates EMS training director role to rebuild in‑house education capacity

Ellis County approved a new EMS training director job description on Oct. 1 to rebuild the department's internal training capacity.
Danita Schroeder, the county EMS director, said the department lost experienced educators after COVID and needs to cultivate classroom and field training. The training director would focus on education and development and could be a pathway into the assistant director role for employees who gain supervisory experience.
The position is classified at job grade 33, is full time and FLSA nonexempt. Commissioners approved the job description on a motion and voice vote.
