The Ellis County Commission on Oct. 1 appointed Carrie McHugh as interim health administrator and as the county's public health officer during a transition period.
County Administrator Darren Myers said McHugh, who retired in 2019 after more than 30 years of service in county health roles and as a former EMS director, agreed to return under contract to help the department through the hiring process. "He has experience within the health department," Myers said.
Commissioner motioned and seconded the appointment; the commission approved the motion by voice vote. McHugh said he has prioritized a short list of transition items and will inform commissioners as the department addresses them.
