The Austin City Council adopted the five‑year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for 2025–2029 following a staff presentation and no public comment.
Tom said the plan covers projects budgeted for 2025 and planning-level items for 2026–2029, and told the council “we're projected to spend just over $142,000,000 on projects.” He cautioned that later-year items depend on funding sources such as grants and that individual projects could be removed if grant funding is not obtained.
There were no members of the public who requested to speak on the CIP during the hearing. Council thanked department heads and staff for the planning work and then voted to adopt the plan by resolution unanimously.
What to watch: Projects identified in the CIP require later project-level approvals and are contingent on available funding, particularly grant awards. Staff indicated the CIP was discussed previously at a work session and is intended to guide the city’s capital program over the next five years.
