The Coffey County Board approved routine consent items early in the meeting. The board accepted the minutes (item read and moved by Mead, seconded by McCurry) and approved authority for the chairman to sign eight tax-eviction documents totaling $3,967.08.
Clerk-recommended notices and 2025 cereal malt beverage license approvals for businesses in Key West township, and a license for Fuel Expresso (d.b.a.) on U.S. 75, were moved and carried with unanimous aye votes. An item to authorize a jail sergeant promotion for Jordan Shepherd was introduced but initially tabled because of an apparent date discrepancy on the paperwork; staff verified the pay-cycle dates and the motion was re-read and approved with the corrected effective date.
Construction staff reported a pay application just over $2 million and three change orders that will be reviewed; commissioners asked that staff provide documentation for the pay app at the next meeting. No final action was taken on the pay application during this session.
