Ryan said crews responded to a stop-sign callout near Waverly and have reopened a segment referred to as "All 50," with a few guardrail sections still to be installed. He described a decision to add guardrail at a culvert east of Capper near a cemetery because the clear zone from the pavement edge exceeded safety thresholds.
The board discussed a multi'intersection turn'lane improvement along U.S. 75 with five intersections included; the project is out for bid and has KDOT funds earmarked (roughly $1 million identified in discussion). Ryan also outlined a plan to tie a new sidewalk near Dairy Queen into a route that provides safer access to Dollar General.
Superintendent Ryan requested permission to park a road blade at employee Nathan Hollinger's residence in LeRoy to improve response time for callouts and snow removal. Commissioners approved reimbursing utilities and a modest annual payment typical for the practice.
The commission asked staff to proceed with bid openings and to track final punch-list items and guardrail installations when weather permits.
