The Chase County Commissioners handled appointments and personnel policy during the Nov. 27 meeting.

Speaker 1 presented a Falls Township Board request to fill vacancies: appoint Gwen Runde as trustee and Tiffany Harshman as township secretary, effective immediately. Speaker 1 moved to approve the appointments; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

Later in the meeting Speaker 3 proposed an amendment to the employee handbook that denies holiday pay to any employee who is scheduled to work on the day before, the holiday, or the day after and then calls in sick for that scheduled shift; Speaker 3 said the policy would be effective Dec. 1. Speaker 1 seconded the motion and the board adopted the amendment by voice vote.

Speaker 6 requested a roughly 15-minute private session to discuss non-elected personnel. Speaker 2 moved and Speaker 1 seconded; the board entered executive session for non-elected personnel for 15 minutes with named participants. No action was reported on return to open session.

The board also announced meeting logistics and community events, including a courthouse tree lighting, and adjourned the session.
