Scappoose — Amy Prince, a board member of the local nonprofit Run with Neil, used public comment at the Sept. 16 City Council meeting to invite the community to a community run at Scappoose High School on Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at 9 a.m.
Prince said the event will feature a 5K, 3K and 1K route, face painting, music and vendors, and that the organization partnered with the Scappoose High School cross‑country team for an invitational. "We are a local nonprofit committed to breaking down barriers, providing youth with resources for mental and physical well‑being," Prince said. She added the group awarded three graduating seniors $1,000 scholarships this year and is anticipating roughly 300 invitational runners.
