Business and community updates: ribbon cuttings, theater, new clinic and public‑safety reminders

Local business and community groups provided updates during visitors and communications, and city departments gave routine safety and operations reports.

Nick Roth of Gross Insurance, speaking for the Fort Thomas Business Council, highlighted a recent ribbon cutting for Redbird (Tyler Little) and announced two upcoming business events: a Google marketing presentation and a pumpkin‑carving networking event at Grassroots and Vine. He also said the old Ice House building (the 12 Thomas) has been renovated and that a second‑floor commercial tenant is being sought.

Amy Walpole, president of the Village Players of Fort Thomas, briefed council on recent productions and upcoming shows, said the group installed a new locking front door with the city’s help, and noted a season pass for $50 and a costume rental program ($10 rental plus $10 deposit). Kendall Sweeney introduced a new private‑practice physical therapy clinic, the Rehabilitation & Performance Institute, describing a one‑on‑one 40‑minute session model that accepts many commercial insurance plans without referrals and inviting residents to visit.

Public‑safety reports included a fire department reminder to check smoke alarms and an update that the county burn ban lifted on Oct. 6; the police department reminded residents about the DEA prescription drug take‑back event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The finance committee reported disbursements for Sept.–Oct. 2024 totaling $823,898.25 and recommended approving warrants numbered 26046 through 26215.
