Regional planner presents Northern Kentucky Area Development District programs, housing playbook

Kirkpatrick said the district’s current budget is about $32,000,000, with roughly $18,000,000 passed through to partner organizations. She described services the district provides to municipalities: grant writing and administration, senior-services call centers, commodity distribution, workforce development, hazard-mitigation planning required by FEMA, and regional economic-development and transportation planning.
On housing, Kirkpatrick summarized a year-long participatory housing study undertaken with Brighton Center and local committees. She said the district will convene a Nov. 18 meeting to present a housing playbook offering options and strategies communities can adapt for attainable and workforce housing rather than prescribing a single solution.
Council members asked about local applications of the playbook and timing; Kirkpatrick said the playbook will present options tailored to differing community contexts and will be available following the Nov. 18 meeting.
