Late in the meeting the Fort Thomas Fire Chief told council that Judge Pindry issued a county-wide burn ban effective immediately for all county residents, covering recreational fires and fire pits because of unusually dry conditions.
The chief said the county’s 10 fire chiefs coordinated the action with neighboring counties and plan to post the ban on Campbell County and emergency-management social channels to inform residents. He added the ban will remain until the area receives “significant rainfall.”
Council members asked staff to make a public notice and the fire department said it would coordinate with the county and the city’s communications staff to ensure residents receive timely updates.
