Fort Thomas promotes two firefighters; city reports opening and recruitment outlook

Council thanked both officers for their service and noted the city has little turnover in those ranks. Staff said the promotions create an opening that the city has filled by extending an employment offer to a candidate who is undergoing pre-employment processing; staff did not anticipate problems and mentioned an expected September start date.
Council and staff also discussed recruitment trends for police and fire, noting smaller applicant pools in recent years but still describing the selected candidates as "top notch."
