Sheriff's office outlines short‑term plan to return deputies to Pittsburg schools

"Our goal is to have a deputy come into the schools...20 or 30 minutes a day," Speaker 10 said, adding that deputies will also attend games and events to build rapport.
The law enforcement representative said coverage will be shared across multiple schools and that if Pittsburg's local officer is not available, deputies will respond from neighboring jurisdictions. Board members asked about long-term staffing and whether there are plans to create advancement paths for SROs; speakers said the department is discussing senior positions ("master trooper"/"super trooper" concepts) to reward career SROs and to help retention.
No board action was taken; the report was informational and board members thanked the deputies for the update.
