Board approves new building administrator hire and adopts regional hazard mitigation plan; several contract extensions approved

Mr. Lear asked the board to authorize posting and hiring a building-level administrator to support planning for a new elementary school, saying the district intends to post in January and hire this spring so the person can start July 1 and participate in planning. He said the salary range would be $90,000 to $115,000 depending on experience. "We do have the money in the budget to hire this person," Lear said. A motion to approve the request was moved, seconded and approved unanimously (vote announced as 6-0).
Later in the meeting Mr. Lewis presented the Kansas Homeland Security Region G Hazard Mitigation Plan update, explaining that re-adoption every five years positions jurisdictions to be eligible for FEMA and state mitigation funds but does not itself commit the district to projects. A board member read the resolution referencing the Disaster Mitigation Act and FEMA review. The board moved and seconded adoption; the chair announced the adoption passed 5-1.
The board also moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters. Following that, the board approved contract extensions: a motion to extend Jamie Lewis, Brianna Deese and Mandy Henry through June 2027 recorded a 4-2 tally. A separate motion to extend Mr. Greg Leer's contract through June 2027 passed 5-1.
The meeting adjourned after a final motion approved unanimously.
