Mr. Lear, presenting the district's out-of-district enrollment update, told the board the application window for nonresident students will open Jan. 1. "This link will become active, January 1," he said, describing the application as a short questionnaire staff will use to gather basic history and contact information.
Lear said district staff will determine capacity by May 1, post available seat counts on June 1, close the nonresident application window on June 15, and notify applicants of status by July 30. If openings exist, Lear said the district will randomly select students from applicants. He noted that last year the district had a small number of openings and only a handful of applicants ultimately enrolled.
Board members asked about the timeline and implementation; Lear said the process largely mirrors prior practice but with the application window opening earlier in the year. No formal board action was taken on the report beyond discussion and questions.
