The Garden City USD 457 Board of Education voted to connect its Plant Facilities complex to the city water supply after staff said a Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) inspector told district officials a site with more than 25 people using a private well may be considered a public water supply and should be registered and monitored.
Director of Plant Facilities Brandon Anderson told the board the current well is not chlorinated and not used for drinking. He said the city’s fee to set a 1‑inch meter is $3,420 and presented two contractor quotes included in the packet: $4,937 from RJ Plumbing and $8,997 from Petro. “If…
