"The LYSA offers a variety of sports to our local community, and it provides opportunities for our future Lion athletes to begin learning the skills needed to compete at a higher level," Pierce said.
Pierce noted Castleberry ISD’s partnership with the LYSA, including sharing facilities and athletic branding and forwarding registration information to aid participation. She highlighted the 9U team’s season, saying they reached the division Super Bowl, received an invitation to the state championship tournament and returned as 9U state champions. "This team ended up ranked number 1 in the state in points scored for the season, and they even came home with some bling with their state championship ring," Pierce said.
Coach John Quinn and several players — including Amari Taylor, John Quinn IV, Cialce Uhatafi, Nehemiah O'Neil, Jet Walker, Champ Hamburg, Carter Thomas and Christian Garcia — joined the celebration. The board and LYSA representatives thanked volunteer coaches and parent volunteers for their contributions.
