Planning commission shares development and infrastructure updates

After the legislative items, commissioners used the discussion portion of the Aug. 21 meeting to share development and infrastructure updates across Bluffdale. Commissioners and staff reported that the Centrum project has a confirmed Starbucks and a Domino’s in planning, while other tenants remain under negotiation until leases are signed. Staff said McDonald’s has a purchase agreement north of the Maverik site and a site-plan application is in review.
On transportation, staff said the 146 South realignment involves complex property acquisition and potential eminent-domain steps and may take longer than anticipated; engineering, right-of-way and Union Pacific coordination remain in progress. Construction of an impact-fee road (1780 West) north of Maverik is under way and expected to open later in the year; the project includes a new roundabout section.
Tiffany (staff) told the commission Costa Vida’s inspections and permitting are "so close," and Smith’s grocery has its building permit and is under construction. A commissioner thanked city staff and volunteers for organizing Old West Days; staff agreed to pass along the appreciation. The commission set its next meeting for Sept. 4 and adjourned.
