Planning staff reported the city recently received a compliance letter from the Department of Workforce Services relating to moderate‑income housing reporting. Staff also said that City Council has requested the commission provide input on temporary signage rules; staff expects to return draft edits in December. Applicants for pending satellite communications text amendments are preparing additional information and are likely to return in November.
Commissioners noted a ribbon cutting at the new WoodSpring Suites that occurred earlier that day. On local development, commissioners and staff discussed visible progress at the Centrum development and mentioned retail leads and letters of intent (LOIs) — including past LOIs with Panda and an unconfirmed LOI for Ace Hardware — while noting LOIs do not always become binding contracts. O'Reilly auto-parts remains in review; staff and multiple reviewers are coordinating on McDonald's site plans and said the applicant is meeting the city's brick‑and‑glass design requirement.
Staff said they were a couple of drafts into a development agreement with an applicant on a different matter and expect to return exhibits and a finalized agreement in the coming months. The meeting adjourned after brief remarks about the short meeting length.
