The Oakdale City Council on Dec. 3 adopted a resolution accepting the Stanislaus County official canvas for the Nov. 5, 2024 municipal election and declared the winners certified by the county.
Staff presented the countycompleted canvas and a certificate of facts from the Stanislaus County Clerk-Recorder, saying the official canvas was completed on Dec. 3, 2024. "Tonight for your consideration is declaring the official canvas results of the 11/05/2024 general municipal election," Speaker 2 said. The staff report listed Jared Petassi as elected to a four-year council term, Jeff Kettering as elected to a four-year council term, Alana Bryant as elected city treasurer to a four-year term and Patrick Mondragon as elected city clerk to a four-year term, each term ending December 2028.
The staff presentation included budget figures and timing for county billing: staff said Stanislaus County estimated a per-registered-voter cost of about $1.35 to $2.12 per position and that the city has budgeted $60,000 in fiscal year 2024 to cover election costs; a final invoice from the county was expected in January or February. Speaker 2 said the council's resolution would "accept the certified statement of vote, declaring the results" and recommended adoption.
An unidentified council member moved to approve the item and another unidentified member seconded. The council voted by roll call, and Speaker 1 announced, "This item passes five-zero." The resolution was adopted unanimously.
What happens next: staff will accept a final invoice from the Stanislaus County Register of Voters when issued and return any required budget adjustments to the council for review.
Sources and provenance: the staff presentation and the roll-call vote were recorded during the council's Dec. 3 special meeting (staff presentation beginning at SEG 074; vote completed by SEG 148).
