City says PASS Area Resource Center will host MSJC’s ERIC with March target opening

City staff told the Economic Development Committee that the PASS Area Resource Center will house Mt. San Jacinto Community College’s Enterprise Resource and Innovation Center (ERIC), a resource hub for local entrepreneurs.
The presenter described ERIC’s services as including workshops, business counseling, a makerspace lab and career counseling. The city closed escrow on the building on 01/04/2024 and staff reported the roof was replaced, the HVAC upgraded, tenants removed, and the scope of ADA improvements identified as part of renovation work.
When asked about a target opening date, the presenter said the center’s current target is March. Staff said MSJC will provide startup businesses through its campus programs and that the city will collaborate with tenants to ensure needed infrastructure is in place. Committee members asked technical questions about conference-room bandwidth and soundproofing; staff confirmed the building has existing wired Ethernet and that staff will work with tenants to provide appropriate conferencing capability.
Next steps: staff will continue biweekly coordination with MSJC and Riverside County partners, obtain quotes and complete identified improvements ahead of the March target opening.
