Ravena Village notes dry conditions, meter upgrades and statewide burn ban through Nov. 30

At the Nov. 12 meeting, Ravena Village trustees flagged regional smoke and unusually dry conditions while reporting water-system upgrades.
Trustee comments said several water meters are being upgraded to cellular reads, a process described as interesting and successful so far. Separately, speakers noted Elk Grove Reservoir levels are unusually low with exposed shoreline in places, and the village urged conservation.
Speaker 2 warned that smoke from downstate New York wildfires affected the village on a recent Sunday and said a statewide burn ban is in effect through Nov. 30 because of dry conditions. Trustees asked residents to avoid outdoor fires and to use common sense while the ban is in place.
