Ravena Village previews park upgrades, splash pad tweaks and Dec. 7 Christmas parade

Ravena Village trustees on Nov. 12 reported a string of maintenance and recreation upgrades and confirmed plans for the village's Dec. 7 Christmas parade.
Trustees said crews completed spot patching on village roads and picked up a large volume of leaves. The village received 50 tons of special red dirt for the baseball field at Mosier Park, trucked in with assistance from Queenstown and New Baltimore, officials said.
Trustee remarks also said the basketball and tennis courts were sealed this fall and a new tree was planted outside the village office. The splash pad was briefly turned on and tested; a vendor will return in spring to fine-tune settings.
The board set the parade for Saturday, Dec. 7, with a 5 p.m. lineup, a route down Main Street to Pulver Avenue and a post-parade gathering at Mosier Park with light refreshments, music and photos with Santa. Organizers asked participants to contact ravinaclerk@gmail.com or call the clerk's office at 756-8233 to sign up.
The village also announced a holiday decorating contest: two $50 Shop and Save gift certificates for top entries and a $25 mayor's-choice prize. Judges will tour displays on Dec. 15 starting at 12:15 and winners will be announced at the Dec. 17 meeting.
Trustees asked for help finding a 20-by-30 tent to use at Mosier Park on parade day, noting many rental businesses scale back in the fall.
