Menands Board continues CDPHP coverage, approves IT and equipment purchases and several surplus actions

The Menands Village Board on Nov. 18 approved a slate of routine motions including continuation of employee health coverage, IT and equipment purchases and several surplus and grant‑funded items.
Health insurance: Trustees voted to continue the CDPHP gold plan for calendar-year 2025 while the Albany County Healthcare Consortium completes its enrollment process. Staff said the CDPHP renewal carries an 18.7% rate increase and the village will continue to cover the plan deductible. The motion to continue CDPHP was made and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
IT and servers: The board approved relocating server equipment from a closet that staff identified as a single-point-of-failure to a secured judge’s office. The quoted cost for moving and installing the IT equipment was $4,057.50; the board approved the expenditure and staff said the work will be submitted for reimbursement from the same grant that covers other building improvements.
Security and access control: Trustees accepted a low bid from ABS to install an access-control system at 250 Broadway for $35,000, noting the work will be reimbursed under a grant. Staff reviewed three quotes and recommended ABS as the lowest responsible bidder.
Surplus and auctions: The board accepted a $10,500 winning bid on Auctions International for a listed vehicle and authorized surplusing of a police Tahoe and an old leaf machine, with both items to be posted for auction.
Public safety purchases and grants: The board approved purchases under a DDC grant totaling $6,788.51 for chainsaws, batteries, a booster hose and rooftop attachments and authorized reimbursement procedures (state sends 50% back after verification). It also approved a quote of $7,365.07 from ProSource and American Flooring Specialists to replace worn carpet in the police department with commercial LVP; that work will be reimbursed under the same grant program.
Other business: Trustees received finance reports (warrants and payroll) and staff updates on camera installation and community events including the Resilient Broadway public engagement and the village holiday-train schedule.
