Menands board hears early concepts for Little River access, engineer to prepare cost estimates

Trustees received an update on preliminary concepts for the Little River property during the July 1 meeting.
Trustee Tim reported LaBella provided an initial analysis and project concepts exploring village access to the property. Concepts discussed included a small boat launch near the river, vehicle access for emergencies, and necessary Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations. Tim said no cost estimates were available yet and that the next step is for the engineer to prepare detailed cost estimates.
Trustees discussed the need to clarify the village’s access rights and whether access would include water use. Tim said the village has some access but that scope and limitations require confirmation. He suggested the board consider setting a public hearing that would include New York State Department of Transportation representatives because DOT work on a nearby area may be related.
No decisions on funding or construction were made; the board directed staff to seek cost estimates and to follow up with consultants before scheduling a public hearing.
