Parole revoked for subject after panel declines treatment alternative

At a hearing on Oct. 17, 2024, the Committee on Parole revoked the parole of the person recorded in the transcript as "Mister ATN" following review of a drug test, supervision-fee arrears, and probation/parole notations alleging uncooperative behavior.
The subject acknowledged having a dental procedure and said he had been prescribed Tylenol 3 (codeine) and other medications. He told the board he had taken a pill he did not recognize at a birthday and had a toke of marijuana. He asserted he was not a regular drug user and said he would participate in outpatient treatment if required. Staff noted prior positive tests for THC and other substances and recorded instances of agitation and lack of cooperation during preliminary proceedings and DRC appointments.
One board member recommended returning the subject to corrections for an in-house substance-abuse program rather than revocation. Board members Mister Prater and Acting Chair Pete Freeman said the records and evidence indicated a parole violation and ultimately voted to revoke the subject’s parole. The panel announced revocation by a 2–1 vote and noted the subject’s full-term date of Nov. 25.
