Parole revoked for Jermaine Turner after board reviews bar incident and bodycam

Acting Chair Pete Freeman and the parole panel revoked Jermaine Turner Sr.'s parole after hearing testimony and reviewing evidence related to a June 28, 2024 incident at a local bar. Turner, who confirmed his DOC number and that he understood his rights, pleaded guilty to the listed charges and spoke in his defense at the hearing.

Turner told the board he did not engage in fighting and said he had been injured during the incident, describing blood in his mouth and saying he spat blood out the car window. His wife, Kimberly Turner, said he was trying to get back on track, and Jasmine Smith, the bar owner, disputed police assertions that Turner had a weapon. Turner asked the board for leniency and said he was seeking employment and intended to repay arrears.

Mister Prater said he reviewed body-worn camera footage and found it showed Turner intentionally spitting at an officer and using aggressive language at the hospital. Prater said the video and other records were inconsistent with Turner’s written statement. Acting Chair Freeman concurred with Prater’s assessment.

By recorded votes on the panel, the board found Turner violated parole conditions and voted to revoke his parole. The board announced Turner’s parole was revoked and completed administrative sign-out at Terrebonne Parish.
