Board hears facilities update as trustees weigh capital-outlay needs

District facilities staff updated the board on several projects affecting campuses and operations. Tim reported the ADA seating project at the bleachers is nearly complete but noted chipped concrete from crane work and discussed options to block access under the bleachers (metal wrap vs. chain-link) while weighing airflow and debris concerns.

At the bus barn staff said gravel placed over removed tanks must settle this school year; an original tank site that did not undergo compaction testing is showing settling and will not be reconstructed during the year to avoid disrupting bus operations. Facilities staff also reported planned electrical work at the wood shop for new power tools and a pending contractor response on a dust-collection system.

The district received one bid for condensation hoods above elementary and high school dishwashers; staff will proceed with procurement once additional paperwork and bid details are in order. Trustees discussed noise abatement at the elementary school and suggested lower-cost in-house solutions—wooden acoustic baffles or canvas panels painted by students—as alternatives to an outside consultant study.

Trustees flagged HVAC needs as a high priority that could require phased work ('waterfalling' projects across years) and discussed using general funds to cover capital shortfalls if incremental increases fall short. No formal capital project approvals requiring contracts were executed during this meeting.
