Lenexa awards architectural/engineering contract to Finkel Williams for LiveWell relocation and Fire Station 6 study

The Lenexa City Council approved an agreement with Finkel Williams for architectural and engineering services covering two projects: relocation of the LiveWell health clinic into space at Old City Hall and a study/design phase for Fire Station No. 6 at the same site.
Todd (staff) said the city received 10 submittals, shortlisted four firms and ultimately recommended local firm Finkel Williams in partnership with TCA of Seattle, which has national experience designing public safety facilities. Todd described the $524,000 fixed fee (roughly $485,000 for A/E services and about $38,000 in reimbursables) and said staff will bring further options and cost estimates for Fire Station No. 6 to council as the design work progresses.
Ellen Foster of Finkel Williams introduced the design team and said the firm has worked locally on other municipal projects. Todd said the scope includes construction documents for the LiveWell relocation and conceptual studies/options for Fire Station No. 6, and the timetable could lead to construction later in 2025 depending on budget and phasing decisions.
Council approved the agreement by voice vote (motion by Courtney, second by Melanie). Staff said the work is budgeted in the capital improvement program and that future contractor engagement and phasing options will be developed based on the design studies.
