Salary board approves pay changes, hires and corrections; retirement board wishes holidays

The Greene County salary board met immediately after the commissionersmeeting on Dec. 19 and approved a large slate of personnel transactions, including pay increases, hires, resignations, terminations and a retirement payout.
The board approved a 5% pay increase for Stacy Mason, county caseworker in human services, raising pay from $18.80 per hour to $19.74, effective Oct. 29, 2024. Commissioners also approved a 2.5% pay increase for Constance Bloom, IDA director (CDBG), raising annual pay from $50,360.96 to $51,619.98, effective Nov. 18, 2024.
Personnel actions across departments included approvals to administer resignations (for example, Amy Lefevre in social services and Kate Linthicum in the prothonotaryoffice), removals from payroll for seasonal conservation interns, reclassifications and hires in the district attorneyand CYS offices, and numerous corrections to prior minutes. The board corrected one entry that had listed Brian Metz as terminated; the record was changed to reflect his resignation effective Nov. 14, 2024.
The salary board handled a large cluster of corrections and additions after staff identified 31 items that were omitted from previous salary-board agendas; the board approved placing those reconciled items on the public agenda and adopted a cross-check procedure staff will use going forward.
Notable jail-related actions included promotions and reclassifications (Brian Kirby promoted to shift lieutenant) and the retirement of Jamie T. Mayer as a corrections officer effective Dec. 6, 2024; the retirement included payout of applicable leave balances and a $6,000 severance, as recorded on the agenda.
After completing the salary-board business, members adjourned. The retirement board convened, approved minutes and heard brief public comment from Penn State Extension wishing the board "Merry Christmas and a happy holidays," then adjourned.
