Town updates: Severance’s water tank online, police building grand opening set, Comcast to finish service to two neighborhoods

Town staff delivered several operational updates to the council Tuesday.
Engineering reported that the elevated water tank was filled, disinfected and tested; disinfection results showed the tank is ready for potable service and it was placed in service this week. Staff said remaining punch-list work will continue with the general contractor and consultants to close out the project.
Chief Chavez said the police department continues officer recruitment and expects to fill three vacancies by January; officers supported recent community events and the department will host a grand opening of the new Severance police building on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Town Manager Wharton said he has been working with Comcast on service to two subdivisions (Casa Loma and Belmont) that remain unserved because of a ditch-crossing issue. On the record, staff said Comcast advised the town it expects to have service to those subdivisions within 45–60 days; if not, the council indicated it will revisit franchise compliance options.
Manager Wharton also described a request from Settlers Landing asking the town to help with internal paving; staff was directed to research financing options — including a long-term loan, a special taxing district paid through property tax over 30 years, or other funding mechanisms — and return with a proposal early next year.
