The Owensboro Board of Commissioners held the first reading of Ordinance 15-2024 on Sept. 3, a consensual annexation of three parcels totaling about 7.996 acres (3001 W. Second St., 305 Carter Road and 45 Carter Road) into the city. City manager said the site is the location of the new senior center the city selected and acquired, and that the property owner has consented to annexation.
"This is first reading of an ordinance annexing into the city, approximately 8 acres at the corner of Second Street and Carter Road," city manager said, adding that the property had not previously been annexed and that the annexation is consensual to facilitate the senior center project. Because this was first reading, no vote was taken on Sept. 3; staff said the matter will return for further consideration on a future agenda.
