At its Aug. 6 meeting the Owensboro Board of Commissioners took a series of procedural and administrative actions by voice vote.
Minutes and routine appointments - The commission approved minutes from the July 16, 2024 meeting. - The board appointed Laura Chapman to the City Employees Board to fill an unexpired term through January 2028 and appointed Andrea Johnson to the Best Neighborhood Alliance for a two-year term expiring August 2026.
Personnel slate - Multiple personnel appointments and promotions were approved, including hires and promotions in Public Works, Fire and Police departments with effective dates in August and September 2024 (appointments contingent on completion of pre-employment requirements when noted).
Other formal actions - Municipal Order 22-2024: approved to redeem $470,000 of the city's series 2013B bonds representing the RiverPark Center's portion of that debt. - Municipal Order 23-2024: approved to authorize the mayor to execute a real estate purchase agreement for 919 Cedar Street for $145,000 to support the Station 1 replacement in the Operation Firehouse program.
