The county attorney explained that the service-fee account collects modest fees such as $50 bad-check collection fees, and that the account historically holds only a small balance because use of checks has declined. Under the standing order, the attorney’s office may keep up to $5,000 for expenses such as server maintenance and office supplies; if the balance exceeds $5,000 in any year the fiscal court may direct other action. The transcript records the motion and a voice vote approving the order.
Court members voiced support in the meeting transcript, and the judge confirmed the motion carried by voice vote. The standing order changes how the county accounts for a small statutory fee revenue stream; the court will continue to receive monthly reports on the attorney’s service-fee account as required by statute.
