Residents press Madison County Fiscal Court over animal shelter conditions; officials promise follow‑up
Summary
Multiple residents told the fiscal court they’ve found missing or inconsistent shelter records, frequent euthanasias, denied access and slow response to animal control; the judge said staff will compile responses and address these allegations at the next fiscal court meeting.
Several Madison County residents used the public‑comment portion of the Aug. 27 fiscal‑court meeting to deliver lengthy, specific complaints about the Madison County Animal Shelter’s operations, recordkeeping and responsiveness.
Kayla Rose Daniel read a statement on behalf of another resident that listed alleged problems including shelter hours not matching state minimums, animals impounded and euthanized without clear records, and cases where rescues or volunteers were told strays could not be accepted. “The community deserves better,” she said while reading the submitted text.
