District says tech work on track for Jan. 17; 50 access points prepared

Speaker 1, an unidentified meeting participant, told the Littlestown Area SD board that the district’s phased technology and security work is on a timeline to meet a Jan. 17 deadline and that 50 wireless access points are prepared for contractor installation. “From a technology standpoint, we’re gonna be at January 17 deadline,” Speaker 1 said.
The upgrade is meant to provide network and Wi‑Fi access in a new section of the school. Speaker 1 said every classroom will have at least one access point and that other common areas in the new section are also covered. “All the classrooms have at least 1 access point in it,” Speaker 1 said, adding the hardware is ready to support completion of the network.
Speaker 1 also summarized alarm‑response responsibilities, saying staff and maintenance will assess, silence alarms and coordinate with first responders, including the fire department, during alarm events. The speaker reported that computer labs in the 100 section had been converted to “macro glass,” that Mr. Reid’s lab was the last to undergo the conversion, and that these changes help the district transition systems into the new area.
District staff presented the timeline and said contractor installation and final checks are expected to proceed ahead of the Jan. 17 readiness date.
