Crook County waives Cary Foster Hall fee and approves $5,000 to Holiday Partnership

The Crook County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 16 to waive rental fees for Cary Foster Hall and to provide a $5,000 founding‑partner contribution to the Crook County Foundation’s Holiday Partnership.
Rebecca, speaking for the Crook County Foundation, said the Holiday Partnership helps families in need during the holiday season with meals, pantry staples and gifts for children, adults with disabilities and seniors. She reported that last year the program served about 650 households — more than 2,000 residents — and described this year’s application window (open through Nov. 15) and distribution days (the week of Dec. 16–19).
Foundation board president Steve Waring asked the county to continue its longstanding practice of waiving the hall fee and to consider an annual founding‑partner contribution. Commissioners confirmed funds available in the county’s community support budget and moved first to waive the hall fee; the motion passed by voice vote. A second motion to allocate $5,000 to the foundation was then made and seconded and also passed by voice vote.
County staff and commissioners thanked the foundation volunteers; no conditions were attached to the funding beyond the board’s usual budgetary oversight. The board’s motions were recorded by voice and carried; staff indicated the fairgrounds fee will be backfilled from the community fund and that the $5,000 will be treated as a founding partner contribution.
