Crook County approves subcontract to route a third of $500,000 behavioral-health grant to La Pine

Crook County commissioners voted to sign a professional services subcontract that will route one-third of a $500,000 behavioral-health grant from the Central Oregon Health Council to La Pine Community Health Center.
Katie Plumb, Crook County’s health and human services director, told commissioners the county had received the full $500,000 because no other jurisdiction volunteered to be fiscal agent. "Several months ago, we received $500,000 from Central Oregon Health Council," Plumb said, and the county will act as the fiscal host to pass a third of that funding to La Pine and similar amounts to the two other targeted rural areas.
An unidentified commissioner moved to sign the subcontract with La Pine Community Health Center; the presiding official seconded the motion and the vote was taken in the affirmative. The contract is intended to fund local programming to expand access to mental-health services in La Pine; Plumb said the scope and budget for La Pine’s work had been approved by the Central Oregon Health Council.
Plumb said the county has already secured the subaward paperwork and that a similar agreement with Jefferson County is being reviewed by county legal counsel. Commissioners did not elaborate on program details during the vote; staff indicated further reporting and contract documents will be available as the agreements are finalized.
