The Perkins Parks and Recreation Board set dates and age ranges for a parks mural contest at Dixon and Peters parks.
After discussing logistics and outreach—distributing forms before spring break and coordinating with the high-school art teacher to assist with painting days—the board voted to open submissions on Feb. 26 and close them on March 13. The motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
On eligibility, the board agreed Dixon Park’s contest should be for intermediate students (third through fifth grade) and Peters Park should be for elementary students (pre-K through second grade). Members emphasized limiting entries to students enrolled in Perkins schools; staff said they will post the contest on social media, place forms in students’ Wednesday folders where applicable, and display notice on the city hall sign to reach families without Facebook.
The board asked staff to coordinate with the high school art teacher (Miss Nichols) to schedule painting days during the week of March 24–28 and to distribute forms to schools by Feb. 26 to meet the March 13 submission deadline.
