The City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance authorizing the city manager to execute a grant agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to fund long-term parking expansion at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
Airport Director Jojo Stewart told the council the airport aid grant will cover 100 percent of the long-term parking construction. Stewart said the parking lot has already been constructed and the grant paperwork will reimburse the city for the work.
Council members noted the project will add "over a hundred" long-term parking spaces and thanked state leaders who supported the funding. A voice vote approved the first-reading ordinance.
No public comment was offered on the item; council moved on to other business afterward.
