Superintendent: Measure R funds rebuilt three elementary schools and paid for Morello Park ribbon-cutting

Superintendent Helen Rossi told the Martinez Unified School District Board on Oct. 28 that the district completed the Morello Park Elementary ribbon-cutting as the final Measure R project.
"It is our fourth and final project of Measure R, having spent the $120,000,000 provided us from the Martinez community to repair, modernize our elementary schools," Rossi said, thanking voters for approving the bond. She said the district initially expected to replace only two elementaries but, through management and cost savings on earlier projects, was able to rebuild three and renovate a fourth.
Rossi noted that, after these Measure R projects and earlier work on the Vicente Martinez campus, three campuses remain in need of renovation and modernization. She framed the spending as a careful use of taxpayer dollars and credited architects, construction managers and the community for delivering projects on time and within budget.
Rossi also reminded the board the next meeting would be Monday, Nov. 4, and closed by acknowledging staff and community members who worked on the projects.
