Monroe County approves budget amendments to fund courthouse security, sheriff staffing and E-911 positions

The commission adopted resolution 11-26-6c to bring a $85,570 grant into the Monroe County Chancery Court fund for security upgrades in courtrooms 1 and 2. Unidentified Speaker 2 introduced the measure and called for a motion; the item was moved and seconded and advanced to roll call for approval.
The board also approved amendments to sheriff and emergency budgets. Resolution 11-26-6e authorized using $40,019.51 from fund balance to staff one additional county officer for seven months of the fiscal year. Separately, 11-26-6f pulled $75,000 from fund balance to add two positions at the Monroe County E-911 center for fiscal 2024-25. Unidentified Speaker 2 noted the staffing additions during discussion; commissioners asked clarifying questions about timing and prior workshop estimates.
Several smaller funding adjustments were recorded as insurance recoveries: 11-26-6a adds $4,024.04 to the sheriff's general-fund budget, and 11-26-6g brings $10,709.97 into the ambulance department budget as insurance recovery.
Unidentified Speaker 2 described an additional transfer of $110,500 from the jail litigation tax to pay for security-related installation at the Justice Center. The measures were handled by motion and roll call, with multiple commissioners recorded as voting "Aye." The meeting record shows no sustained public comment on the items.
The commission concluded the business with routine roll calls. A staff announcement said there will be no December commission meeting and reminded members of a December breakfast at Anderson Ridge.
