At its Feb. 3 meeting, the Galena Park Independent School District board approved several motions by unanimous vote.
Trustee Jose Jimenez moved and Noe Esparza seconded a resolution authorizing the district to pay employees for missed workdays or any work performed to mitigate the emergency closure on Jan. 20, 2025; the board president announced the motion carried 6-0 with 0 abstentions.
The board then considered an order calling a trustees election to be held May 3, 2025 to elect trustees for positions 3 and 4. Noe Esparza moved to approve the election order; Jose Jimenez seconded; the chair announced the motion carried 6-0 with 0 abstentions.
On consent business, Trustee Amanda Arabia moved to approve the general consent agenda as presented; Ramon Garza seconded and the motion passed 6-0 with 0 abstentions. Trustee Jose Jimenez moved to approve the financial consent agenda; Amanda Arabia seconded and the motion carried 6-0 with 0 abstentions.
