The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District board completed a series of routine and substantive votes at its Nov. 18 meeting, all recorded as unanimous voice votes (9–0).
Routine business: The board approved bundled agenda items 3.1–3.4, including the minutes from Oct. 14 and Oct. 21, the bill list and budget transfers.
Curriculum: The board approved a revision to the Unionville High School 12th-grade English sequence, combining the two existing 12th-grade academic courses into one course to be called "The Human Condition," to be offered both in-person and as a blended option. Administrators said no new materials or additional costs are required.
Student activities: The board approved the Unionville High School Ski Club overnight trip to Vermont (Feb. 20–22, 2025). Miss Talbert presented the item and the board voted 9–0.
Policies and special-education survey: The board approved two sets of policies (agenda items 7.1 and 7.2) as part of routine review and approved item 7.3 to administer the required Special Education survey to students age 14 and older later this month with parent notification. Board members said the survey is a required element of special-education services and noted historically low participation rates.
Personnel: Agenda items 10.1–10.8 were presented and approved in a single motion.
Each approval was made following discussion in prior work sessions, and several board members emphasized transparency, further review where needed (notably policy 906, which was delayed), and ongoing communications with the public.
