Students and an advisor from the Unionville High School ski club presented a request on Nov. 11 for permission to take an overnight ski trip to Vermont that would require one district‑approved day out of school.

Heather Biddle, the ski club advisor, said she submitted trip dates, destination details, costs and lodging information in the written request and introduced student speakers who explained why the trip schedule needs to shift to Thursday–Saturday to avoid hotel group 'blackout dates' that raise costs. "When I submitted our letter, I did submit our dates, our destinations, the cost, and where we would be staying," Biddle said. Students said they would complete missing schoolwork promptly and pointed to similar practices at neighboring districts for overnight student trips.

Board members praised students for presenting and said the item will be on the Nov. 18 consent or action agenda for a vote.
