District administrators provided a detailed update Sept. 16 on planning for full-day kindergarten—targeted to begin in fall 2025—and on an ongoing review of early-dismissal practices for middle- and high-school athletes.
Doctor Hoffman told the board a public document (made available on BoardDocs) outlines month-by-month tasks through implementation, covering curriculum development, facilities (including outdoor learning considerations), communications, finance, personnel, transportation and food services. Administration emphasized the importance of early registration and proactive communications to estimate enrollment for staffing and facility planning.
On early dismissals for sports, Mr. Kreider shared statistics showing student-athletes missing parts of classes when schedules require early release. Board members and staff connected that issue to a district bus-driver shortage and discussed recruiting team drivers, reworking dismissal logistics and other potential solutions. The conversation was framed as an ongoing evaluation rather than a policy change; board members encouraged colleagues to review the work-session materials for details.
Administrators said further detail on screening tools and communications will be available in coming months and that the document on full-day kindergarten will be updated publicly as planning progresses. The district invited board members and the public to follow updates on BoardDocs and upcoming meetings.
