Lang told the board the couple received a similar special permit three years ago that has since expired. The proposed project includes a shed dormer on the side elevation, an unfinished basement, and the relocation of laundry to an upper floor. The applicants said the existing house has two bedrooms and the proposed design will provide three bedrooms and three‑and‑a‑half bathrooms overall.
A board member moved to approve the special permit with a condition that the property remain a single‑family home; another member seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. The chair reminded the applicants that the board must prepare and file a decision, and that a 20‑day appeal period applies before any building permits can be issued.
Scott Lang said the couple plans to continue using the house as a single‑family residence and that they both work from home. The board recorded the approval and directed staff to prepare the decision for filing.
