Conestoga students ask Tredyffrin-Easttown board to back PIAA recognition for boys volleyball

Aiden Lynn, captain of the Conestoga boys volleyball club, told the Tredyffrin-Easttown School Board on Sept. 23 that the group seeks Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) recognition for spring competition. Lynn said the club has more than 25 players, volunteer coaches and will self-fund the first season through fundraising and player contributions.
Lynn told the board becoming a PIAA sport would allow the team to practice after school rather than late evenings, and would allow matches against other PIAA JV and varsity opponents. He described plans to build participation through a middle-school introductory program and said the team would not seek district budget support for the coming season.
President Kantorsik thanked the students and said the board will clarify its procedural role in PIAA recognition and encouraged coordination with Athletics Director Kevin Pichin. Dr. Guzik for the administration invited Lynn to stay after the meeting for follow-up and said, "there's no administrative opposition to you ascending to PIAA status," while noting the group must follow existing processes used for prior club-to-sport transitions.
The board did not take a formal vote. Dr. Guzik said he would meet with athletics staff and school leaders to confirm whether prior procedures have been followed and what steps remain before the team could be officially recognized by PIAA.
