Eversource decommissioning hearing delayed; site visit tentatively set for Dec. 27, hearing moved to Jan. 9

The Woburn Conservation Commission postponed the public hearing on the decommissioning of a structure at 42 Green Street (NSTAR Electric Company, d/b/a Eversource; DEP file no. 348-880) because no Eversource representative was present when the agenda item came up on Dec. 19, 2024.

Speaker 2 asked the chair to delay opening the hearing, noting "There's nobody, from Eversource here." The commission took a procedural motion and a voice vote to delay opening the public hearing at that time.

Commissioners then discussed scheduling a site visit to the 42 Green Street location. Members debated timing (waiting until after the Christmas holiday, Friday Dec. 27, or a weekday between Christmas and New Year's) and emphasized the importance of having an Eversource representative attend. Commissioner discussion included asking staff member Teresa to contact Eversource to confirm availability; the group tentatively proposed Dec. 27 in the morning (9–10 a.m.) pending Eversource confirmation.

Later in the meeting, Speaker 2 moved to delay the formal opening of the Eversource decommissioning hearing until the commission's Jan. 9, 2025 meeting; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. No further substantive discussion of the decommissioning plan was recorded at the Dec. 19 meeting.

The commission asked staff to coordinate with Eversource and return with confirmed arrangements for the site visit and to include Eversource representation for the January hearing.
